Christmas Message from Doug Baird
2008 has been an interesting year for us all. What started out as just a crunch has rapidly turned into a recession; maybe even a depression. Along the way, I have discovered new words like stagflation and gazundering, and witnessed the most profound changes in the financial services landscape. Yet despite the barrage of doom and gloom from the media, 2008 has been memorable, and not always for the wrong reasons.
During 2008 InterimPartners has continued to provide high quality services to all our clients by introducing exceptional candidates to them. The business has continued to build an excellent reputation with our clients, whether they are corporate, public sector or private equity backed, which has taken us closer to our ambition of becoming the market leader in interim management. This year, InterimPartners was included in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100, where we were positioned 13th. We have doubled the size of the team from six to twelve and our new consultants, who are all of the highest quality, have been successful in developing new markets for us. We hope to continue to attract more successful consultants and will increase the scope of the business by adding an international element in the third quarter of next year. This can only be good news for 2009, as we will be better placed to work with more candidates and therefore increase our ability to service a wider market place.
In 2008 we improved the quality of our website and we are now No.1 in Google based on the search term `interim management'. The visuals feature real interim managers and we hope to add a few more next year. So, if you are working with us on a high profile assignment, we may ask to take your picture and you could end up on our website! We have recently added a blog, which I hope some of you may wish to contribute to. We have also changed the IT platform and are introducing video conferencing facilities to our office from December 08.
InterimPartners aims always to operate ethically and with integrity. This year we became a founding member of the guild of patrons for St Michael's hospice. St Michael's provides excellent care to those in need and we have committed to supporting them for at least the next three years. We also continue to support Candlelighters, a charity linked to St James' hospital in Leeds, that raises money for children with cancer and serious blood disorders.
As the year draws to an end, I hope that there are lots of positives to look back on, whether they are of a business or personal nature. For me, the most rewarding thing about 2008 has been the birth of our baby daughter in August! So, I sincerely hope that 2008 has been as interesting and rewarding for you as it has been for us and I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all our clients and candidates a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Doug Baird, Managing Director
