    Interim Head of Building Safety

    You will be required to lead a team of compliance and building safety professionals delivering building safety services to the wider organisation including:

    * Fire Risk Assessments
    * Asbestos Management
    * Compliance management
    * Building Safety

    With four direct reports (Fire Safety Manager, Asbestos Manager, Compliance Manager and Senior Building Safety Manager) you will be responsible for:

    * Regular review of compliance programmes (including gas, electrical, water, lifts, asbestos, FRA, fire safety systems) and ensuring certification is in place
    * Validating and reporting compliance to the wider business
    * Managing gas forced entry process
    * Leading the Building Safety work including:

    - Participation in MHCLG Early Adopters scheme
    - Trialling recommendations
    - Representing the organisation at meetings
    - Reporting back to the wider business


    * Sharing good practice and emerging processes with other housing providers
    * Leading the response to government consultation and emerging advice/new regulatory requirements as required
    * Investigating high risk buildings (particularly external wall) and undertaking risk assessments (with specialist advice)
    * Making recommendations to the Building Safety Technical Committee about risk, mitigation and remediation
    * Communicating progress to residents and colleagues
    * Liaising with other teams (including housing management, investment, asset management, leaseholder services, development, etc.) on all areas of building safety
    * Managing and monitoring buildings with interim remedial measures
    * Leading at the Fire Safety Committee
    * Providing reports to Health and Safety Committee, Audit and Risk Committee, Executive Team meetings etc as required.

    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

    * Extensive management experience at a senior level
    * Experience in managing large Asset Management portfolios, ideally within a large housing association
    * Working knowledge of fire safety legislation, codes of practice and guidance documents
    * Extensive experience of fire risk management and working with the Fire Services
    * Experience in tracking and monitoring compliance and contractor performance
    * Extensive report writing skills, writing reports up to Chief Executive level
    * Experience in leading and developing policies to drive service improvement and value for money

    Qualifications required:

    * Degree/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent
    * Membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers, HND, IOSH membership, IFE qualifications or NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management
    * Other relevant Fire Safety qualification
