Modernising for good old-fashioned savings

Our interim sorted out the IT and technology of Babcock’s latest buy.

The client

Babcock International is the UK’s leading engineering support services company.

The challenge

Babcock purchased VT Group for £1.3 billion and committed to save £50 million of costs, with a big slice to come from a successful IT reorganisation and technology modernisation programme. Interim Partners introduced Rob Wilkinson to Simon Parker, Babcock International CIO to take on this challenge.

The solution

Having worked for Interim Partners previously, Rob had an impressive track record of delivery so we were confident that he would add real value.

The final 3 months were used to establish the newly required IT support organisation and optimise the implementation processes.

The results

After 9 months, the programme was already delivering financial benefits, contributing to the £50m of cost synergies.

Further on our sister company Brightpool has begun to provide services to Babcock, building upon the relationships and expertise developed by Interim Partners.

The programme received group board sponsorship and was regarded as particularly high profile by Babcock International and city analysts.
