The way you make someone feel? 

In fact, all of the above, it’s the product of a thousand small gestures and experiences. 

Personal branding is essentially “the ongoing process of establishing a prescribed image or impression in the mind of others” (thanks Wikipedia, oh and happy belated birthday!). 

In this case, it's about creating a personal brand for what you can deliver. Your track record. 

The term “branding” has long been mentioned in relation to companies, but today almost every individual has a personal brand. You may not know what it is, but you do have one! Not many of us have consciously cultivated these brands, but they exist nonetheless.

There are many ways for an interim to build a personal brand; effective networking is one of them. 

The more time you spend nurturing and building your network, the more visible you make your personal band and the more opportunities open up to you.  

Demonstrating value in your personal brand

To help our interims demonstrate genuine value, and contribute to their overall personal brand, we’ve developed a tool called Return on Interim (ROI).  As well as helping clients manage their interim estate effectively, the tool allows interims to see their progress while on assignment, and also receive a really meaningful testimonial at the end of the engagement. The interim walks away with a detailed case study, showing milestones hit, objectives met and financial return achieved. Past assignments measured in this way can positively add to your personal brand. 

Building a strong personal brand is just as much about being responsive to what is being said as it is about creating original content. ROI, events, face to face networking and social media are my personal favourites in elevating your personal brand and becoming more visible in today’s market!
