How do I get interim sales work within the IT ICT sector

Hi Gerry
Firstly it is worth noting that interim sales assignments are less common than say, HR, finance or 'special projects' (change, transformation or turnaround projects).
Next if you are not a proven interim manager, i.e. an interim manager who has successfully delivered three, four or more assignments, you will be more risk to a client than someone with a proven track record. Therefore you will have stiff competition.
I recommend you do the following if you do not yet have the track record in interim management:
- use your contact network. Work your contacts for introductions, leads or market information
- register with interim service providers who are known to offer sales assignments at the level you want
- make sure your profile on LinkedIn is up to date and sells you. You should relate your project based achievements more than anything. Put in facts and figures. This relates to your CV as well.
- join relevant groups on LinkedIn and contribute to them. This goes for sites like ours - it is free advertising and gets your name known in the interim community
- Lastly it could be worth approaching old employers, clients and customers and directly ask/offer your services. Sometimes it is just a matter of timing.
I'm happy to discuss this in more depth. Feel free to call me.
Best of luck.
